In the political arena, the Empire of Ela’r’oech underwent a series of reforms and restructuring in 2023. The nation’s political system was overhauled almost entirely, along with its main way of progression. This led to increased influence and power in the region, and some have even declared the nation a micronational superpower, although this is still a topic of debate.
In July 2022, the Empire became part of the short-lived United Kingdom of the Great Bayou, but it left the union in August 2022. However, on November 7, 2023, the Empire once again joined the United Kingdom of the Great Bayou.
One of the most significant events of 2023 was the Ela’r’oech-Pontunia relations crisis. The Empire and the Catholic Republic of Pontunia are the final standing nations in the Bayou Sector and are among the most influential micronations in the Southern United States. However, relations between the two nations have reached an all-time low since late 2023, following the formation of the Catholic Republic of Pontunia. Members of the Neo-Knights of Ela’r’oech, an organization unaffiliated with the Empire, declared war on the Republic. Although the Empire has disavowed the actions of the Neo-Knights and the organization’s existence numerous times, Pontunian President Andrew Perdomo proceeded to allegedly illegally remove members of the Pontunian National Assembly for being Elarian.
In the cultural sphere, the Empire of Ela’r’oech has seen a flourishing of arts and media in 2023. The nation’s music has been dominated by indie-pop, with Momentum, an indie-pop duo made by Charles Madgett and Andrew Perdomo, being particularly influential. Other notable cultural contributions include well-known films such as “The End,” “Fight of Gods: The Superest Super God!” and “The Chicken and the Dog,” as well as popular shows like “Fight of Gods” and “Micronational Geographic.”
Sports have also played a significant role in the Empire of Ela’r’oech in 2023.
